"We could live in Antarctica and we would be making the same thing we're making," Weiser says. "We just happen to live here."Īlong with a handful of Florida electronic outfits like Rabbit in the Moon and Phoenecia, Jackal & Hyde claims outsider status. "We do not make any type of cheesy Florida breaks," he insists. Try to peg their sound as Florida-style electronica and Weiser pounces. Their Sunshine State of mind is just a geographical happenstance, not a musical one. But the Jackal & Hyde duo from Tampa is certain of what it is not. Scott Weiser and Todd Walker never agree about what to call their music. "ELECTRO-DUO JACKAL & HYDE SPLITS FROM THE PENINSULAR PACK." All in all this comes with a very high recommendation. Overall this is one of the best Electro CD's to come out and it is an album that has been begging for a release for a long time. This chunk of hard house sounds like it would fit on the decks of a DJ like Bad Boy Bill or Richard "Humpty" Vission. Finally this CD closes out with the House Wrecka's remix of "Seek and Destroy". Both of which are dark Electro stormers that are guaranteed to leave holes in speakers. After that comes "Seek and Destroy" and "Get Down to my Technique", both of which are consistent with the quality that people have come to expect from these two. If they keep this up then pretty soon people will be saying "Trent who? Nine inch what?" Very Nice. This track is a change of direction for the duo, one which shows promise. Next up comes the Industrial-based "Pied Piper". The only recommendation I have for this one is to make sure that you have a good system for it because it will devastate any unworthy system. This track is probably one of the biggest hits to come out of any of the various styles of Electro in the past few years. Then comes the production work for which Jackal N Hyde is most known for, their remix of Biochip C's "Go Bang". This mix, which turns the original into a vocoded vocal banger that serves as an excellent update. After that comes J&H's remix of Whodini's classic "The Freaks Come Out At Night". After the intro, this CD starts of with "Beyond" a hard Electro rocker which is guaranteed to tear up any dancefloor, home or otherwise. Scott Weiser and Todd Walker have released some of the biggest Electro anthems to come out of the US and this CD serves as an overview of those hits plus a few new treats. One of the biggest names to come up on the Electro circuit in the past few years is Florida's Jackal N Hyde, and it's no wonder why they have done so. "JACKAL & HYDE - THE BADLANDS ALBUM REVIEW"
